Police in New York have ruled out foul play following the death of a Carlow woman in the Hamptons.
Martha Nolan-O’Slattera was found dead on Tuesday morning on board a boat in the Long Island holiday hot sport.
She was 33 years old and had been working in New York for several years.
On Newstalk Breakfast, Journal.ie reporter Emma Hickey said that the exact cause of Ms Nolan-O’Slattera’s death is still not known.
“A good Samaritan had attempted to perform CPR on her,” she said.
“Unfortunately, she was sadly pronounced dead on the boat and there’s been a massive police presence out in Montauk at the Yacht Club where the boat had docked.
“Aside from that, there’s very little that we do know.”
Police in New York have ordered an autopsy be carried, with the results likely to be made public later today.
Back in Ireland, tributes have been paid to the young fashion worker.
Taoiseach Micheál Martin described her death as an “absolutely devastating blow to the family” and her loved ones in Carlow.
He said Ms Nolan-O’Slattera had been a “young, beautiful, very talented, creative woman” and that his thoughts and prayers were with her family.
