A man was shot dead in Newry on Thursday evening.
The incident took place in the Ardcarn Park area and the man was pronounced dead at the scene by the Police Service of Northern Ireland.
The park has since been sealed off to motorists and pedestrians.
Local MLA Justin McNulty said the killing had left people in Newry “reeling”.
“Nobody wants to see scenes like this in our community,” he said.
“There can be no place for guns on our streets and I would encourage anyone with any information to come forward to police as soon as possible so the people behind this disgraceful attack can be apprehended and this dangerous weapon can be removed from circulation before anyone else is hurt.”
