A man who was seriously injured in a road accident in Drogheda during the week has died.

39-year-old Stephen Mc Donagh was hit by a car in the John street area of the town at around midday on Thursday.

He was initially taken to the Lourdes hospital but lost his fight for life overnight.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to contact them on 041 9838777.
