Gardaí have appealed for witnesses after a pedestrian was killed in a road crash in Cork city this morning.
The man, aged in his 40s, was struck by a car while out walking on the Kinsale Road between 5am and 5:45am.
His body was removed to Cork University Hospital where a postmortem examination is due to take place.
A man in his 60s has been arrested and remains in custody at Togher Garda Station.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have any information or dash-cam footage to contact them.
The Kinsale Road is currently closed as Gardaí carry out a forensic examination.
Diversions are in place.
