A man is due in court after a driver mounted the footpath 'narrowly missing pedestrians' and crashed into a Garda car in south Dublin.

Investigators said gardaí on patrol in Monkstown last Friday spotted a parked car that had been reported as stolen.

When one of the gardaí approached the car, the driver ‘mounted the footpath at speed’, crashing into the Garda car and ‘narrowly missing pedestrians and the uniformed member’.
