A man has died on Carrauntoohil Mountain Co Kerry.

Gardaí have said they are investigating the case of sudden death.

The man, whose age is not known, was discovered at around 12.00pm on Saturday afternoon.

The man appears to have fallen and Gardaí have said no other person was involved.

Kerry Mountain Rescue attended the scene, and requested the assistance of Valentia Coast Guard - with flight 115 departing from Shannon.

However, due to the position of the deceased man the Coast Guard helicopter was unable to assist.

They helped ferry some members of the Kerry Mountain Rescue team prior to returning to base.

Killarney Gardaí have been notified and are investigating.
