A man aged in his 30s is in a critical condition in hospital this morning, following a serious assault in Dublin last night.

It happened at Aston Quay at 9:30pm.

The man was taken to St James's Hospital where he is being treated for head injuries.

No arrests have been made. Gardaí at Pearse Street are investigating.
