A man has been seriously injured after he was beaten up during a robbery at his home in Cork.

Three masked men armed with iron bars burst into the man's home in Curraheen early today and attacked him. He was asleep upstairs.

A number of other people who were also in the house at the time were not injured.

The man (37) is being treated for his injuries at Cork University Hospital.

It is still unclear what the robbers took from the house.
