A male cyclist has died after he was involved in a collision with two cars in County Kerry last night.

The collision occurred at Tonevane, Tralee at around 8:15pm.

The 39-year-old man was seriously injured in the crash and was removed to Kerry University Hospital where he later passed away.

The drivers of both of the cars - a man in his early 40s and a woman in her mid-50s - were brought to hospital with minor injuries.

Gardaí are investigating the incident and the road is currently closed to facilitate a forensic examination.

The road is expected to remain closed for the morning and local diversions are in place.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or was in the Tonevane area between 8:10pm and 8:30pm is urged to contact gardaí at Tralee Garda station 066 - 7102300, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
