Madonna claims the disturbances at her concert in Paris were caused by a few thugs and not her fans.

The singer issued a statement on her official website following media reports that the audience reacted angrily when she finished her show after 45 minutes.

It was reported last week that members of the audience at her MDNA show in Paris began booing and throwing bottles when the singer cut the show after 45 minutes.

French investigators have since confirmed that the disturbances were caused by a small group of supporters of National Front leader Jean-Marie Le Pen.

The singer has been using a controversial image of the French politician with a swastika superimposed on her forehead during her shows.

It is reported that a small group of supporters went to the concert in Paris with the aim of causing trouble.

In a statement on her official website Madonna says they were a few thugs who were not her fans and that the press has focused on this rather than the joyous aspect of the evening.

She also said that nothing can take away or ruin the very special evening for her and her fans and she looks forward to having this wonderful experience again.

Her statement in full reads: “Playing the Olympia was a magical moment for me and it was real treat to do this special show for my fans and be so close to them. Unfortunately at the end of the show – after I left the stage – a few thugs who were not my fans rushed the stage and started throwing plastic bottles pretending to be angry fans. The press reports have focused on this and not the joyous aspect of the evening. But nothing can take away or ruin this very special evening for me and my fans. When I looked out in the audience, everyone I saw had a smile on their face. I look forward to having this wonderful experience again”.
