Irish MEP Luke Ming Flanagan says he has contacted Twitter, after he believes his account on the social media platform was hacked.
Screenshots suggest a tweet appearing early on Monday morning referenced a photograph of former Green Party member, Saoirse McHugh.
However, Ms McHugh's name was misspelled as 'Sapirse'.
In response, Mr Flanagan said he had since changed his password.
"I believe my account was compromised. I am contacting to twitter to establish what's has happened", he wrote, before adding: "Some nasty people out there. Mind yourselves."
