Talks at the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) to resolve a dispute between Luas drivers and Management have adjourned for the day.

Management at the company that runs the Luas say they hope SIPTU come to the WRC earlier today with a modified pay claim.

Both sides are having separate discussions at the WRC to see if full talks can begin, in an effort to bring an end to a dispute at the transport company.

SIPTU's Eoin Reidy says it is early days;

Workers are looking for a pay hike of up to 53% but Transdev says they cannot afford to pay that.

Two 48-hour strikes have already taken place with two more days of action planned for March, including St Patrick’s Day.

Transdev’s Managing Director Gerry Madden spoke to reporters on his way into the WRC this morning: "Today is about actually hopefully charting a road map to a resolution, it's not about doing a deal. We welcome the intervention - it's a good place to be. We are in this morning, SIPTU are in this afternoon. I sincerely hope that SIPTU come in this afternoon with a very substantially modified claim. If they do that I think we have a chance, if they don't then I think the chances become more difficult."
