Voter turnout is still reported to be low across the country this evening, with some places reporting figures as low as 2 per cent in some areas. 

More then 3.1 million people are eligible to vote in the Children Referendum.

Polling stations have been open since 9 o"clock this morning and will remain open until 10 o"clock tonight.

Tanaiste Eamon Gilmore cast his vote in Scoil Mhuire in Shankill in Dublin this morning where he outlined the benefits of holding the referendum on a Saturday:
