Hundreds of people queued in towns and cities across Ireland in the hope of securing tickets, some since the weekend.

The country star's much-anticipated concerts are his first in Ireland for over 17 years.

These people in Dublin's Stephen's Green were among the first to get their hands on the sought-after tickets at 9 am:

More than 300 people queued outside the Shopping Centre in Portlaoise this morning. They told Midlands 103 they were feeling the cold:

But the longest reported wait was in Dungannon, Co. Tyrone, where this group began queuing at 3.45am on Sunday:

The gig was announced at a press conference earlier this month, Garth Brooks himself flying in for the event.

Tickets priced at €65.45 went on-sale at 9am this morning. Reports suggest some tickets are already being resold on eBay at €500.

Croke Park was the location of his sell-out concerts here back in 1997, and he has picked the same venue for two the two performances this July.

His career has seen him named the number 1-selling solo artist in US history, sell in excess of 128 million albums and receive every accolade the recording industry can bestow on an artist.
