The Le Eithne has successfully rescued a total of 756 migrants since its departure from Cork last month.

Yesterday evening the navy vessel located 113 migrants 40km north of Tripoli in Libya and safely transferred them onto a waiting ship.

The LE Eithne has since resumed patrol in the designated area.

The operation marked the crew's fifth successful operation since they left Irish shores on the May 16.
