Daniel Kinahan is expected to be extradited to Ireland at some point next month from his “hellish” prison in the UAE.
The gangland boss was arrested in Dubai in April, after an Irish judge issued an arrest warrant for alleged serious organised crime offences.
He has been held in a UAE prison since then, as officials organise his extradition.
On The Claire Byrne Show, Paul Healy of the Irish Mirror said officials think he will be flown back in mid-July.
“I stress that that is a tentative date,” he said.
“Of course, anything can happen, things do change.
“But I'm told that Gardaí are informed that they may be able to finally extradite Mr Kinahan from the United Arab Emirates around that date.”

Kinahan’s senior associate, Seán McGovern, fought his extradition for several months.
Earlier this month, he was sentenced to 24 years behind bars by the Special Criminal Court.
“My sources are telling me that the authorities in Dubai really have run out of patience with the Kinahans,” Mr Healy said.
“It's a bad look for them to be in their country and they really don't want to have to deal with this for any longer than needs be.
“So, I'm told that Mr Kinahan has run out of road and Gardaí fully expect to have him extradited within the next month or so.”
Currently, Kinahan is understood to be incarcerated in Dubai’s notorious Al Awir Central, which Mr Healy said has a reputation for its “hellish conditions”.
Kinahan will likely have had his head shaved on arrival and inmates routinely complain of violence and overcrowding.
“we're not privy to everything that's going on in the UAE,” Mr Healy said.
“We don't know about the court's process - it's notoriously secretive.
“So, we don't know really whether Mr Kinahan is exhausting all avenues legally or whether he's actually willingly surrendering himself up to the authorities.”
