Kim Kardashian West has been discussing criminal justice reform with the US President’s advisers at the White House this evening.
The reality TV star did not meet with President Donald Trump – however the President’s son-in-law Jared Kushner and daughter Ivanka Trump attended the ‘listening session.’
Ms Kardashian met with President Trump three months ago – when she convinced him to pardon 63-year-old Alice Marie Johnson, who was serving a life sentence for drug offences and money laundering.
Appearing on the podcast ‘Wrongful Conviction’ in recent days, she said she is now working on the case of Chris Young, who was sentenced to life without parole for marijuana and cocaine possession.
Kevin Sharp, the former federal judge who sentenced Young also attended the meeting.
On the podcast, Ms Kardashian revealed that Mr Sharp "resigned because he had never been on the side of having to do something so unfair, and now he is fighting with us to get (Young) out."
In a statement, White House deputy press secretary Hogan Gidley said: “members of the Administration are hosting a listening session about the clemency process.”
“The discussion is mainly focused on ways to improve that process to ensure deserving cases receive a fair review."
In a tweet after the meeting Ms Kardashian West said: “It started with Ms Alice, but looking at her and seeing the faces and learning the stories of the men and women I’ve met inside prisons I knew I couldn’t stop at just one.”
“It’s time for real systemic change.”
