The move by Irish Rail comes after the company only received nine applications from women to the 2014 scheme.
The company are seeking to fill a number of roles in a range of apprenticeships and the company hope that more of the new recruits will be women.
Last year almost 2,000 people applied for the programme at the rail company but just nine of these applications were from women.
