The government jet carrying the Taoiseach Enda Kenny to Brussels was forced to make an emergency landing at Baldonnell Aerodrome on Monday evening according to reports.

However, the defence forces say an incident which forced the government jet, to divert to Baldonnel aerodrome on Monday evening was "not an emergency landing".

The Taoiseach had been en route from Knock airport to Brussels when the flight diverted after an indicator light came on in the cockpit.

A Defence Forces spokesperson said the flight crew followed normal procedures and made a precautionary landing at Baldonnel, before resolving the issue and continuing to Brussels.
