People are being reminded of the world at their fingertips, as September 30th marks International Podcast Day.

The international celebration of the power of podcasts is seen a an opportunity to connect with fellow podcasters, podcast listeners, podcast enthusiasts and leaders in the podcasting industry.

Just as podcasts and podcasting has evolved over the years, International Podcast Day has done the same.

In 2014, National Podcast Day was celebrated in the United States with just six hours of broadcasting.

After quickly realising the power of podcasts internationally, it was re-branded into International Podcast Day.

GoLoud is our very own home of radio, music and podcasts – all in one, easy to use (and free) app.

You can listen to Newstalk, choose the music you want to hear or binge on the latest podcast.

As today is International Podcast Day, why not check out the huge selection of podcasts currently featured on GoLoud - whatever genre or category you're interested in.

You can download the GoLoud app for free in the App store or on Google Play.

A selection of podcasts available on GoLoud include:

  • Mens Rea: Mens Rea is a fortnightly true crime podcast that discusses crime in Ireland and the UK. Every two weeks, Sinead delves into the most notorious crimes and examines the people involved, the investigation of the police and the court cases that followed.
  • Crimeland: Every week comedian Julie Jay chats true-crime with her favourite funny people.
  • Not Without My Sister: Not Without My Sister is a podcast about life, love and sisterhood, from two Irish sisters who find themselves, for the first time in over a decade, living together in the American midwest.
  • The Two Norries: The Two Norries Podcast is hosted by Cork's James Leonard and Timmy Long and is themed around addiction, recovery, crime and justice.
