The President of Germany is to visit Ireland next week.

The Áras has announced Joachim Gauck and Ms Daniela Schadt have accepted an invitation for a three day trip.

The state visit aims to build on the close ties between Germany and Ireland.

It will begin with a formal welcome and ceremonial tree planting at Áras an an Uachtaráin on Monday.
