Gardaí are investigating whether an aggravated burglary that saw a man set on fire in County Cork was a targeted attack.

A 23-year-old man suffered potentially life-changing injuries after three men broke into a house in Lotamore in the early hours of Monday morning.

It is believed he was beaten, doused in petrol and set alight.

He was taken to Cork University Hospital where his condition is described as serious.

The Garda investigation is continuing and it is believed detectives are investigating whether the man was deliberately targeted.

Gardaí have renewed their appeal for information on the attack – urging anyone who was in the Dunard area between 3 am and 4:30 am on Monday morning to come forward.

They are particularly interested in talking to drivers who may have dash-cam footage.
