Gardaí from Mullingar were on uniform patrol on the M6 when they stopped a car at 2.30pm on the M6 Kilbeggan road.

During the course of the search of the car, Gardai discovered one kilo of cocaine with a street value of approximately €70,000.

A woman aged in her 50s and the sole occupant of the car was arrested and taken to Mullingar Garda station.

She is being detained under the provisions of section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
