The Garda Commissioner is restricting his movements after coming into close contact with a Garda officer who later tested positive for COVID-19.

Drew Harris has been restricting his movement and is working from home since being informed, due to the requirement to isolate for two weeks.

He was also tested for the virus at the weekend, which came back negative.

In a separate incident, Gardaí say a number of other members are also self-isolating after being identified as close contacts of a positive case.

Gardaí say all members remain available for duty and are working remotely.

A spokesperson added that there is currently no impact on any services of An Garda Síochána.
