Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to a hit-and-run in Co Cork yesterday evening.

A 71-year-old cyclist was hit by a car at Haymount, Lower Woodstock in Carrigtwohill at about half past seven.

The driver of the car failed to remain at the scene.

An ambulance took the woman to Cork University Hospital for treatment to injuries that are not life-threatening.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact gardaí in Midleton.
