Programme of events to mark 1916 centenary in Australia announced

A programme of events to mark the centenary of the 1916 Easter Rising in Australia has been unveiled.

Nearly seven million Australians have Irish heritage and it is hoped the events will give them an insight into the impact the Easter Rising had Down Under.

Gardaí clashed with anti-racism protesters in Dublin at the launch anti-immigration group Pegida Ireland this afternoon.

Scuffles began when anti-racism protesters split from a counter-demonstration and chased a number of people into a shop on North Earl St.

The Monkees confirm 50th anniversary album and tour

The Monkees are set to go back on the road as they celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first series of their television show. 

The tour is in promotion of a new album entitled Good Times!, which is set to be produced by Adam Schlesinger of Fountains of Wayne fame. The album will also feature guest appareances from musicians such as Ben Gibbard (Death Cab for Cutie, The Postal Service), Noel Gallagher (Oasis) and Rivers Cuomo (Weezer). 

Jack Charlton reveals he was sacked as Ireland manager at the end of his reign

Speaking to the Sunday Independent, Charlton claimed that it wasn't in fact his decision to leave the Ireland set-up, despite what he had previously claimed.

The former Ireland manager stated that there had been a meeting arranged back in 1996 in which he and the FAI would discuss the future, but that things didn't go to plan.
