During every show from November 27th to December 1st, Newstalk listeners can text PRICELESS to 50300 (St Vincent de Paul will receive a minimum of €1.80) to be in with a chance of winning a once-in-a-lifetime Priceless Experience.

 

Each text costs €2 (St Vincent de Paul will receive a minimum of €1.80), and all funds raised will go to St Vincent de Paul to help families in need this Christmas. Plus, for every text, Mastercard will donate five school meals to children in Mali, Africa, through the World Food Programme.

 

Jason Lalor, Country Manager with Mastercard Ireland said: “Sadly, there are thousands of people in Ireland who will suffer this winter, and many around the world who go to bed hungry every night. Our appeal will help the neediest people here at home and in Africa – so for just €2 (St Vincent de Paul will receive a minimum of €1.80) you can help your neighbours and children in Mali, one of the poorest countries in the world.”  

 

The initiative coincides with Giving Tuesday, a global movement that Mastercard partners with to do good for charity on November 28th.

 

Earlier this year, Mastercard announced a global fight against hunger, committing to raise enough to fund 100 Million Meals through the World Food Programme and local charities around the world.

 

In Ireland, Mastercard has built a dedicated donations site where Mastercard holders can sign up to make very small donations every time they use their card. At www.mastercard.ie/donate cardholders can set donation amounts (e.g as little as €0.05 for every transaction), set a monthly cap, or make a one-off donation.
