Gardaí have confirmed the names of the ten fatalities of the Creeslough explosion in County Donegal.

An Garda Síochána continues to investigate all of the circumstances into the cause of a fatal explosion, but so far believe it was a "freak accident.

The fatalities include James O'Flaherty (48 years old); Jessica Gallagher (24); Martin McGill (49); Catherine O'Donnell (39) and her son, James Monaghan (13); Hugh Kelly (59); Martina Martin (49); Robert Garwe (50) and his daughter, Shauna Flanagan Garwe (5); Leona Harper (14).

Jessica Gallagher lived in the apartments above the petrol station with her boyfriend, who remains in a critical condition in hospital. The Shandon Hotel where Jessica used to work told Newstalk that staff are devastated.

Martin McGill was originally from Scotland but had been living in Ireland many years. Known locally as “Scotch Martin”, he could be seen in Lafferty's shop nearly every day.

Mulroy College paid tribute to Martina Martin, a mother of two children who attend the school.

Robert Garwe and his daughter Shauna lived locally. It is understood that the pair went into the shop to buy a birthday cake for the girl's mother.

Also local, Catherine O'Donnell and her son James Monaghan's family members say they have no words. James attended Mulroy College.

Letterkenny Rugby Club have paid tribute to Leona Harper, whose father described the last two days as “nothing short of hell”.

The seven other surviving casualties continue to receive treatment in Letterkenny University Hospital and remain in stable condition.

Garda Family Liaison Officers have been appointed to the families and are continuing to provide support and information.

The explosion at the petrol station and post office occurred on Friday, October 7th.

An Post will begin collecting donations from tomorrow for those affected by the incident.

Donations to the Creeslough Community Support Fund will be channeled through the Irish Red Cross to provide "practical support" and services to all those who have been bereaved, injured or made homeless by Friday’s tragedy.
