Fianna Fáil and SDLP call for Brexit alliance

Fianna Fáil and Northern Ireland's SDLP have issued a joint statement, calling on pro-remain parties across Ireland to form a Brexit alliance.

The statement was issued by party leaders Micheal Martin and Colum Eastwood.

It has set out five core principles for parties across the island to agree on over Brexit.

Ross: Major Luas disruption for MetroLink "totally unacceptable"

The Transport Minister Shane Ross has said any MetroLink plan that would see major disruption to the Luas Green Line is "totally unacceptable".

He was responding to reports that the southside section of the metro rail line is set to be abandoned due to Government unwillingness for lengthy disruption to the Green Line.

Under the changes, the line would still run from Swords to the city centre - but is likely to stop north of Ranelagh at Charlemont.

Gardaí arrest 29 people in Cork as part of crackdown

Gardaí arrested 29 people in Cork as part of a Day of Action on Wednesday.

The operation was in relation to a number of recent incidents of robbery, threats to kill and sale and supply of drugs.

Some 32 bench warrants were executed on 23 of the people arrested.

Production halted at world's biggest Nutella factory

Chocolate maker Ferrero has temporarily halted activity at the biggest production plant of its Nutella spread.

The company said it relates to "quality checks" at the Villers-Écalles factory in France.

The issue was spotted on Tuesday after reading results of one of the quality checks at the plant.

More global sites to go green on St Patrick's Day

Tourism Ireland has added a number of new sites to the Global Greening line-up for St Patrick's Day.

The unique event is marking its 10th year and will feature new additions like Victoria Falls, The Eden Project in Cornwall, York's medieval City Walls and The Cotton Tree in Sierra Leone.

Other new Greening sites added to the list include a leopard statue called 'Chiu' in Nairobi, Nation Towers in Abu Dhabi, the Château de Beaulieu on the banks of the Loire, the Atakule Tower in Ankara and the Shizuoka Stadium ECOPA in Japan.
