A crisis meeting of EU justice and interior ministers has ended without agreement on proposals to relocate an extra 120,000 refugees throughout Europe.
However, the ministers could not reach a deal on a bigger relocation agreement.
It's thought the ministers will meet again next week for further talks.
EU Commission Vice-President Frans Timmermans says Europe has to do more to help refugees:
Justice Minister, Frances Fitzgerald says, howeve, that there is an agreement in principle by a majority of EU states.
EU ministers said they will accept 40-thousand, however they couldn't reach an agreement on relocating an extra 120,000 people.
Minister Fitzgerald says that after the initial agreement last night refugees will start to arrive in Ireland in the next few months.
EU ministers will meet again next month to discuss the refugee crisis.
