The by-elections to fill four empty Dáil seats will be held on November 29th.

The Taoiseach has told the Dáil he intends to move the writs for the by-elections the week after next.

They will be held in Dublin Fingal, Dublin Midwest, Cork North Central and Wexford after the election of four TDs - Clare Daly, Frances Fitzgerald, Billy Kelleher and Mick Wallace - to the European Parliament in May.

A number of parties have already chosen their candidates for the election.

They include Senator Lorraine Clifford-Lee running for Fianna Fáil in Dublin Fingal; former health minister James Reilly for Fine Gael in the same constituency; and mayor of Wexford George Lawlor for the seat formerly held by Mick Wallace in the constituency.

The Green Party today launched the campaigns of three of their candidates - Cllr Joe O'Brien for Dublin Fingal; Cllr Peter Kavanagh for Dublin Midwest; and marine ecologist Karin Dubsky for Wexford.
