Pizza company Domino's has announced it is trialling a jetpack delivery service.

The concept been unveiled at this year's Glastonbury Festival in the UK.

Under the plans people can order a pizza from their nearby shop, which will be flown to them via jetpack.

It will see a delivery 'flyer' dropping into the local restaurant and picking up the pizzas, before taking off and heading for the address.

They can then land and hand the food to those waiting on the ground.

Sam Wilson, Domino’s Jetsuit Deployment Director, told Moncrieff the pizza box is specially-designed.

"People may have seen our delivery bikes and they'll see the blue box on the back that we put our pizzas in," he said.

"We've custom-built one for this jetpack to make sure it fits, to make sure our pizzas stay as flat and level as possible - but also so it can get to its destination as quick as possible.

"We've trailed it with two pizzas and two sides; but obviously we could go up to four pizzas if people are feeling a bit more hungry".

Mr Wilson said deliveries would have to be for short distances.

"At the moment it's a trail, so we're testing this technology," he said.

"We've tried multiple different technologies in the past, like drones, but this is one that we're trialing in and around Glastonbury.

"It gives us the opportunity to test flying over country fields and all of that sort of stuff".

Mr Wilson said they only have the one jetpack suit, for now.

"At the moment it's being trialled, and we're seeing if we can roll it out in the future," he said.

"If we do roll this out, it would vary on where we go, but it's not too far - so it's for shorter flights, not for longer deliveries," he added.
