The family of a woman killed in a crash on the M50 in Dublin last week has urged people not to share images or videos of the accident.

Jacqueline (Jackie) Griffin from Tallaght died following the multi-vehicle crash involving three cars and a lorry on Thursday January 24th.

In the aftermath of the crash, images from the scene were shared on social media - prompting a call from gardaí for people to not share the pictures.

Ahead of Jackie's funeral next week, her family has now issued a message urging people to "stop and think" if they receive the messages.

In the message - shared by Senator Lynn Ruane - the family says the untimely passing of Jackie has been "difficult enough without what has come to our attention".

They write: "The immediate aftermath of Jacqueline's horrific accident was deliberately filmed and photographed. This video and [these] photographs were then shared over a number of social media platforms.

"I am confident that the majority of society would have the good sense to know that this is completely immoral and should be reported, deleted and not shared.

"It is my hope that this message is shared far and wide among today's on and offline influencers. When or if you receive these images I urge you to stop and think. Do not share. Delete and report."

The statement adds that Jackie was a "daughter, auntie, sister, partner and beautiful person".

It concludes: "We now ask for privacy and ask that the media do not arrive at Jackie's funeral so that we can have that privacy. Thank you."
