Gardaí are appealing to the public not to circulate images of a crash which has claimed the life of a woman on Dublin's M50.

The victim, who was in her thirties, suffered catastrophic injuries in the multi-vehicle crash involving three cars and a lorry.

The crash happened shortly before 11.30 am on Thursday on the northbound slip-road off the M50's Finglas junction.

The female driver was pronounced dead at the scene and her body was taken to Dublin City Morgue.

A man in his 50s, who was driving one of the other cars, was taken to Connolly hospital where his condition is not thought to be life threatening.

A lorry and a third car received minor damage.

Garda Forensic collision investigators have examined the crash site and an incident room has been established at Finglas Garda Station.

Gardaí are appealing for information from anyone who was travelling on the M50 between the Blanchardstown and Finglas junctions, from 11:15 to 11:30 am on Thursday.

Investigating Gardaí say they are aware that images taken at the crash site are currently being circulated online.

They are asking the public not to share the images, out of respect for the family of the deceased and those involved in the collision.
