The five-day moving average of new COVID-19 cases is now 9,850

This morning, there were 630 patients with the virus in Irish hospitals, compared to 624 yesterday.

However, the number of patients in intensive care has fallen from 66 to 65 over the past 24 hours.

Today's figures come after Dr Tony Holohan told an Oireachtas committee that the COVID-19 pandemic is not over, and there will be an 'ongoing need' for some public health measures.

However, the Chief Medical Officer also said the current situation is 'broadly positive' and that it is safe for people to return to normal activities.
