Fota Wildlife Park has released the first pictures of their newest arrival – a black and white ruffed lemur.

The baby was born 4 weeks ago to proud parents Pudden and Pudge.

But the baby has not yet got a name of its own.

It spent the first 3 weeks in a tree nest which the mother started to build a week before the birth.

The black and white lemur is native to the island of Madagascar off the east African coast.

Fota in Cork is home to 3 of the 16 species of Lemur in the world today and 2 of those varieties are the black and white and red ruffed species.

This type of lemur is critically endangered with fewer than 500 left in the wild.
