Gardaí have seized €30,000 worth of cocaine following a car chase in Co Louth. 

Gardaí on patrol stopped a car in the Ferdia Park area of Ardee at roughly 9.30pm last night. 

While speaking to the Gardaí, the driver of the car accelerated the car away from the scene, hitting the rear of a Garda car and causing extensive damage. 

Multiple Garda units began a pursuit of the car, and a package was thrown from the vehicle in the Corbollis area on the N52. 

This package was later recovered and was found to be €30,000 of suspected cocaine. 

The car was stopped by Gardaí on the N52 at Clonkeehan with no injuries reported. 

Two men, aged in their 40s and 60s, were arrested at the scene and they are both currently being detained at a Garda station in County Louth. 

Investigations are ongoing.
