The organiser of the election to fill a vacant seat in the Seanad has been asked to expel Fine Gael's candidate from the election.

John McNulty was listed as a board member of the Irish Museum of Modern Art when he filed his nomination paper - but resigned that position earlier today.

His independent rival, Gerard Craughwell, says Mr McNulty should now be eliminated from the election.

However it's not clear whether his name can be removed - with ballot papers due to be distributed tomorrow.
