A boy (13) has drowned in Maynooth, Co Kildare.
It happened at the Lyreen river - beside the Kilcock road in Maynooth - at around four o'clock yesterday afternoon.

It is believed the teenager, who was with two friends - a girl and a boy - jumped into the water to help one of the friends who had got into difficulty.
He was taken to hospital, but was later pronounced dead.
It is understood the two other teenagers remain in hospital.
