Next month will see a broader range of workers able to apply for a skilled migrant visa for Australia.
Bricklayers, tilers and chefs will all be eligible to go for the work permit.
At the moment, 188 different jobs are on the official list of skilled occupations. The new additions will be included from July.
This means that effectively the Australian government has recognised a need to quickly fill vacant positions in these professions.
It also means that migrants do not have to apply for permanent visas with the aid of employers for these positions.
However it is reported that the federal government there will limit the general skilled migration program at 43,990 visas over the next financial year, and each occupation is capped at 6% of the industry's workforce.
An industry body in Australia had previously called for jobs within the hospitality sector to be returned to the list.
The Restaurant and Catering Australia (R&CA) CEO, John Hart, claimed that employment in cafes, restaurants and other food venues was projected to grow by more than 42,700 jobs to November 2017.
