As the mercury is set to rise again, some people might be feeling the heat in their sleep patterns.

Temperatures could hit 30° by Monday, Met Éireann has predicted.

Sleep expert Tom Coleman told Lunchtime Live there are a few things people can do.

"The first thing I suppose is to look after our bedroom environment and our clothes.

"Your bed ideally should have natural fibres like linens and bamboo, and they're much better at kind of dissipating heat.

"Switch out your duvet, have a lighter summer duvet.

"And try and keep the room cool as well: if heat builds during the day, it's a good idea maybe to close the curtains but keep the windows open.

"So keep the rooms well ventilated".

He says keeping the window open at night is up to the individual.

"It depends - if we're looking at temperatures up around 27/28°, you may have to leave them open at night.

"It's fine to leave a crack in the window open at night, I'm sure, just to keep that air circulating".

And he says there are things people can do ahead of bedtime too.

"We need to cool down in order to achieve sleep.

"Your body starts to cool after 5pm, and it reaches it's coolest at about 5am.

"Believe it or not, having a warm shower - counterintuitive as it might seem - will actually cause a rebound cooling effect in the body.

"So having a warm shower a couple of hours before going to bed can actually help your body cool down".
