An Aer Lingus flight from Dublin to Portugal has been forced to make a dramatic return to the airport after its pilot became ill. 

Flight EI 498 to Faro left Dublin Airport shortly after 4.30pm and was forced to turn around soon afterwards.

It landed safely less than an hour after its scheduled depature.

All 163 passengers on board are being offered alternative flights this evening.
