One girl is in the ‘Tortured Girlfriends Department’ as her boyfriend wants her to dress up as Taylor Swift during sex.

“Like many people around Ireland, I have been tortured over the last week by the release of the new Taylor Swift album,” she told 'So You Think You're an Adult' on Moncrieff.

“My boyfriend is bloody obsessed with her - he plays her music all the time, tells me random stories about her that I don’t care about and even has a stupid hoodie with her face on it.

“Recently his obsession has gone a bit too far - when we were watching her concert movie on Disney plus, after a few glasses of wine my boyfriend asked me would I dress up as Taylor during sex.

“He even sent a screenshot of the outfit from her tour that he’d like me to dress up in."

The boyfriend also suggested he could dress up as the singer's latest boyfriend Travis Kelce.

“I’m open to most stuff, but I feel with this, he will be imagining that he is having sex with actual Taylor Swift instead of me," she said.

“I’ve tried to ‘Shake it Off’, but I think his obsession makes this one a little too weird for me.”

Should've said no

Writer Barbara Scully, who is impressively unaware of Taylor Swift’s recent stardom, said the bottom line is the importance of consent in the bedroom.

“When we're talking about people being asked to do things they're not comfortable with in the bedroom, say no,” she said.

“If you want to introduce something in the bedroom that's going to add spice to your love life, both of you have to buy into it.”

The stardom of Taylor Swift

Broadcaster Declan Buckley pointed out the wider issue of the listener’s boyfriend essentially wanting to have sex with Taylor Swift.

“It’s wrapped up inside this kind of high level fanship that's just gone a bit too far,” he said.

Declan explained to Barbara that many ‘Swifties’ have a deep parasocial relationship with the singer, which Taylor Swift herself feeds through ‘Easter Eggs’ about her future plans and personal life across her music.

Fans, for example, successfully guessed the singer would release a double album last week after she did a peace sign at the Grammy's.

“I'm sure there are many parents out there with Swifties and their kids are obsessed with Taylor Swift,” he said.

“But when there’s this extra element of not only are you a Taylor fan, but you’re also trying to get people to be Taylor Swift in the bedroom, that’s a bit too far.”

Declan said the girlfriend needs to say she doesn’t want to roleplay as the singer – and she needs to explain why.

“You're going to have a conversation about how you don’t particularly like this person that your loved one is obsessed with,” he said.

The boyfriend may be disappointed, but hopefully he has tickets for Taylor Swift’s concert in Dublin on June 28th, 29th, or 30th.
