Three men will appear before a special sitting of Waterford District Court tonight, charged in connection with an armed robbery in Cheekpoint.

Shortly before noon on Thursday, two men entered a shop in the village - one armed with a handgun and the other with a knife.

The shop assistant was threatened, and handed over a sum of cash.

Three men in their twenties were arrested in the Waterford area yesterday afternoon.

They're due in court at 9 o'clock tonight.
