Two men have appeared in court charged with criminal damage of two paintings at the Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin.

48 year old Andrew Shannon with an address at Willans Way Ongar Dublin 15, and his nephew 19 year old Jamie Shannon of 10 Empress Place Dublin 1, have both been charged with causing criminal damage to the artwork on January 8th. 

The court heard that both paintings have a combined value of twenty eight thousand euro and have been damaged beyond repair.

Andrew Shannon has been denied bail and remanded in custody to appear in court again next Friday. 

While, Jamie Shannon was granted bail of €100 under strict conditions which include that he doesn't associate with his co accused, he signs on at Store Street Garda station and he's to stay out of all museums, galleries and stately homes.

He'll appear in court again on March 14th.
