13 families in Dublin who say they have been made homeless as a result of a rent hike want the public to support them at a sit-in tonight.

Their protest is due to happen between 6pm and 8pm at their accommodation on 54 Mountjoy Street in Dublin city.

The families were told they were being evicted because their private landlord was increasing the rent, which Dublin City Council was unable to pay.
