At least nine people have been killed after Islamist group al Shabaab detonated a car bomb at a hotel in Somalia's capital, Mogadishu.

Police say four militants were also shot dead as they tried to force their way into a hotel, but security forces overcame the attack.

Up to thirty people have been injured.
