Seán FitzGerald or ‘Fitzy’ has returned home to Ireland from the Love Island Villa and is ready to tell all about his time on the reality show.
The Galway native plays GAA for his county and took part in the 2022 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship final.
But while in the villa, he was less well known for his skills on the pitch than for his romance with his partner, Lola.
The couple paired up early on in the show, but failed to resonate with the voting public back home.
Eventually, they volunteered to go back home, having fallen into the bottom three couples in the public vote.
On Lunchtime Live, Fitzy said it is “very good to be back to normality”.
He has spent “literally one night” in Galway to see his family and had a “few of the boys over for a debrief”, before hitting the town.
Now, he is focusing on his post-villa media appearances.
“It’s just weird being out now, compared to what it’s like in there,” he said.
“You don’t even know the time or anything like that; even listening to music, it’s something so little but it’s so nice to be able to hear music again.”
While in the villa, participants had no idea what was going on in the wider world.
None of them even had a watch to tell the time - something that didn’t bother Fitzy, as he had nothing in particular to do.
“You just kind of wake up, have your breakfast and then when they tell you there’s food, there’s food,” he explained.
“It was like a, I don't know, would you say glorified prison? But I wouldn’t say that because there’s lovely girls there as well.
“You had a bit more freedom, but boredom as well.”
Fitzy added that he was a “little bit” worried about how people back home would view his time in the Villa.
“I knew that I wasn’t doing anything bad,” he said.
“I think it was more the kind of context of… people chatting shit or is there any juicy gossip that we can’t see?
“But no, that wasn’t the case - actually, I still have to watch it back.
“So, maybe there is - but hopefully not.”
