A County Dublin couple are to be repaid a sum of €61,000 they were overcharged by Permanent TSB, following a court action.
Liam Fitzgerald and Angela Wallace were wrongly taken off a tracker mortgage rate.
However, they took a legal action against the lender, after rejecting a €6,000 compensation sum offered by the bank.
The case came before the courts after a Central Bank investigation found more than 1,000 customers had been overcharged by Permanent TSB.
The bank is welcoming an agreement reached with the couple and says it was always open to those affected to seek further compensation.
However Liam Fitzgerald, who is a solicitor, believes accepting the bank's offer of the return of the money owed is not advisable:
