Gardaí say normal service has been restored to its ICT systems following a malware risk last week.

The issue was identified on Thursday, August 4th, and access to certain systems were temporarily removed for all users across the organisation.

An Garda Síochána say: "Any security risks to the Garda ICT systems are treated with the highest importance and standard security protocols are implemented."

"Working with security experts the threat was identified and an appropriate solution was implemented across all Garda ICT systems."

However the force says that as a precaution, heightened security measures have been put in place.

it adds that no data was compromised, and that Pulse and the Garda website were not affected.

An Garda Síochána's Computer Crime Unit is continuing its investigation into the incident.
